Interstitial cystitis

Diagnosis carried out by:
1 Cystoscopy
2 Biopsy of the bladder to find Hunner’s ulcers ( focal regions of severe bladder inflammation)
3 Symptomatology: urgency, frequency of urination and pelvic pain.

Therapy
1 Use of medicines by mouth: Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium (PPS),analgesics, antihistamines, atispasmodics and antidepressants
2 Endovescical instillations of anaesthetics, heparin, PPS and bicarbonate
3 Bladder training by using biofeedback
4 Proper nutrition
5 Thulium laser and Holmium laser: it is a healing-palliative aimed treatment and it grants a decrease of the symptoms for a period of time that can reach 24 months; but, if necessary, it can be repeated because of the minimally invasive of the treatment itself, which can be carried out in day surgery.
